Mammootty and B Unnikrishnan’s cop thriller titled Christopher; first poster out now

Mammootty’s next with B Unnikrishnan has finally got its title. As promised the makers unveiled the film’s title and first poster today. Titled Christopher, the thriller will see Mammootty essay the role of the titular protagonist, a policeman.

The poster, shared by Unnikrishnan on his official social media accounts on Wednesday, features Mammootty holding a shotgun, his face out of view.

Christopher is written by Uday Krishna, marking his second collaboration with Unnikrishnan after the Mohanlal starrer mass entertainer Aaraattu. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Unnikrishnan had said that the project will be made on a big budget and shot across different locations in the country. The director said that the film would not only revolve around a relevant subject, it would also have elements to please Mammootty’s fans. However, the director denied that Christopher will be a mass masala entertainer like his last directorial, Aaraattu.

In addition to Mammootty, Christopher also stars Dileesh Pothan, Vinay Rai, Sneha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Amala Paul and Shine Tom Chacko in prominent roles. The film is produced under the banner of RD Illuminations.

The upcoming film will mark Mammootty and Unnikrishnan’s latest collaboration after more than a decade. The duo had earlier teamed up for the 2010 film Pramani. Mammootty had also starred in a segment helmed by the director in the 2009 anthology film Kerala Cafe.

Meanwhile, Mammootty’s last leading role came in Ratheena’s Puzhu, which had a direct to digital release on SonyLIV. The megastar will next be seen in Nisam Basheer’s thriller Rorschach, which also stars Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker, Jagadeesh and Kottayam Nazir.

The actor’s upcoming releases include the Telugu film Agent, as well as Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.
