It took almost eight years since reports of Mammootty and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s first collaboration Anti-Christ emerged for the duo to actually work together. But now it seems that the megastar and the Churuli filmmaker will be teaming up for back-to-back projects in a span of a two years.

Lijo, who had wrapped up the shooting of his forthcoming directorial Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, is reportedly planning another big movie with Mammootty, and this time it could also feature Fahadh Faasil in a central role.

While there has been no official confirmation regarding the film, rumours suggest that Mammootty himself will be bankrolling the venture under the banner Mammootty Kampany, which has also backed Lijo’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Nissam Basheer’s thriller Rorschach. The upcoming movie will be the third production under the new banner.

Lijo and Mammootty were first set to team up for a dark thriller titled Anti-Christ, which was to be produced by Friday Films. Despite advanced talks in 2014, the movie didn’t take off. The makers had also changed the cast of the film with Prithviraj Sukumaran coming on board as the lead. It’s not clear whether Lijo has revived Anti-Christ as Fahadh was also at one point rumoured to be part of the cast of the movie.

Fahadh had previously collaborated with Lijo for the superhit Amen. The actor, who is currently filming Akhil Sathyan’s Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum, had worked with Mammootty in his debut film Kaiyethum Doorathu, Pramani and Emmanuel. Fahadh will next be seen in Vikram, which also has Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi as part of the lead cast.

Meanwhile, Mammootty is also gearing up for his OTT debut with Puzhu, which is set to release on Sony LIV on May 13. The actor is also part of a Netflix anthology, based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. The segment will also be helmed by Lijo.
