The much-anticipated fifth film in the CBI Sethurama Iyer franchise has gone on floors. While its lead actor Mammootty will join the team only a few weeks later, the team will begin shooting the movie as planned from today in Kochi.
The movie, directed by K Madhu and scripted by SN Swamy, has a huge star cast featuring Renji Panicker, Saikumar, Mukesh, Asha Sharath and Malavika Menon as part of the cast. The team had begun the film’s shoot in Vyttila with a scene featuring Malavika today.
Mammootty is expected to join the team by December 10 after he completes shooting for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. The shoot of Lijo’s film, which the megastar is also producing, was delayed due to the rains in Tamil Nadu.
SN Swamy had last week told us that the movie will deal with an investigation with Mammootty’s character being the spearhead of the probe despite the team also have three other members. Two of them are female police officers while Mukesh will be reprising his role as Chacko. “Mukesh role is a minor one this time,” said Swamy.
Lijo and Dileesh Pothan were also earlier rumoured to be part of the cast. However, Swamy denied this, saying that Lijo will be busy completing the pre-production of the film while Dileesh is recovering from a ligament injury.
The fifth film in the franchise, which also includes Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Jagratha, Sethurama Iyer CBI and Nerariyan CBI, will revolve around a case referred to as Basket Killings. Mammootty has allotted close to two months for the shoot of the film, which has music composed by Jakes Bejoy.
