The Malayalam film Bramayugam was in the global spotlight after the Mammootty-starrer was screened at the Oscar Academy Museum recently. It has been two years since the release of the period horror folklore film, and the director Rahul Sadasivan has shared some unseen photos from the sets of Bramayugam. Let’s take a look
Starring Mammootty in the lead role of the evil patriarch Kodumon Potty, Bramayugam was released on February 15, 2024. As the film completed two years, the Bramayugam makers shared behind the scenes footage from the sets. Most of the photos featured director Rahul Sadasivan explaining the scene or in conversation with Mammootty.
Just like the film, the photographs were also in black-and-white.
When it was released in theatres in February 2024, Bramayugam opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews and Mammootty was also hailed for his gray-shaded role. Now, just as it completes two years, Bramayugam found more glory with Mammootty being hailed as the Mollywood legend at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Not just in plot and performances, Bramayugam is also a technically sound film, with the perfect frames, the period settings and the omnious score.

Penned by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam follows the events as Thevan stumbles upon a huge yet dilapidated ancestral house while fleeing Yakshi (a vampire-like mythical creature). Thevan, from a lower caste, is relieved when Kodumon Potty gives him refuge and seems to be impressed with his singing. But he soon realises that he would not be able to leave the mansion. He along with the cook now has to outwit Potty, who is revealed to be a powerful creature, chattan.
Actor Arjun Ashokan played Thevan, while actor-filmmaker Sidharth Bharathan is seen as the cook. There are no other major characters in the film helmed by Rahul Sadasivan, who is known for his horror tales.
You can watch Bramayugam on SonyLiv via OTTplay Premium with multiple audio options of Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Another recent Mammootty film to feature the megastar in a villainous role was Kalamkaval, which is also streaming on both platforms.
