At a press conference held on Tuesday to promote his upcoming movie Bramayugam, Malayalam megastar Mammootty gave an explanation of why viewers should not rush into theatres expecting certain things.

He also clarified his statement, asking viewers not to have any expectations about the film made during the trailer launch event in Abu Dhabi. The actor said that he only intended to make the point that people should not watch the movie with any preconceived notions because that would detract from the exciting experience of watching it.

"Following the release of the posters, teaser, and trailer, people tend to speculate about the story and the characters. It would not be accurate in most cases, which is a reason for people's disappointment over a film," he said.

The Bheeshma Parvam actor also discussed the rationale behind the film's black-and-white production. He argued that since Bramayugam takes place in an era without films, the mystery horror movie makes sense to be produced in this style. He continued, "It would be a unique experience for young people who have not seen many black and white films, and it also offers nostalgia to many."

Mammootty continued, stating that Rahul Sadasivan, the film's director, approached the story of the movie with straightforwardness. Regarding his part in Bramayugam, he stated that disclosing too much would deprive viewers of the full cinematic experience, but he would describe the character as a mysterious person.

"It is also important to remember that this movie is about a cast of diverse characters, each of whom deals with varied emotions and circumstances—not heroes or villains,” he said.

The actor further asserted that it is difficult to foresee how an audience will view a movie and that it is entirely up to them to decide whether or not the movie leaves an impression.

Mammootty added that the plot of Bramayugam and his character were what convinced him to accept the project. He also said that he would always want to play more diverse roles in films.
