Mammootty on playing Walter in Chatha Pacha: 'Good or bad, I have no responsibility'

Mammootty revealed that he did not improvise his portrayal of Walter; instead, he adhered to the instructions of the makers. The actor joked, "Therefore, good or bad, it is not my responsibility," in response to the audience's conflicting reactions to his portrayal of Walter. He spoke about this during the success meet of Chatha Pacha held in Kochi on January 25.

According to Mammootty, the main characters in this movie have viewed Walter as a hero since they were children. He therefore made an effort to revive their hope and confidence when he returned after a long absence by looking similarly. "This movie uses different slang than what is now used in Kochi. You would enjoy or relate to Chatha Pacha if you watched the film with these thoughts in mind," he stated.

How did Mammootty get the role of Walter?

Meanwhile, he also spoke about the details of how he was casted for the film during the success meet. The Bramayugam star revealed his first conversation with the actor Ishan Shoukath's father when the latter approached him to speak about this project. "I had told him that it is difficult to survive, though it is simple to enter into the film industry. And after all these years, I am still struggling to survive. I wasn't sure I would make the cut for this role," he remarked. But Shoukath and the filmmakers were adamant about the megastar playing Bullet Walter.

He added that he was inspired to accept this movie by the excitement and confidence of the director and the rest of the crew. Additionally, Mammootty praised the efforts of the main actors, which included Ishan Shoukath, Roshan Mathew, and Vishak Nair, especially their physical transformation for Chatha Pacha. He was also asked about his next flicks, including Patriot. Mammootty, however, declined to provide many details about the Mohanlal-starrer.
