Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam is still firing on all cylinders. The movie, which has become the megastar’s highest grossing movie of all time, recently surpassed a long-standing record set by Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan, which was the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 100 crore.

Bheeshma Parvam, which is directed by Amal Neerad, recently surpassed Pulimurugan’s record of Rs 31 crore earning at the GCC box office. The March 2022 release has so far collected over Rs 31 crore from its wide release in the Middle East, in a span of less than a month. Another Mohanlal film, Lucifer, however, hold the record for being the highest earning Malayalam film in the GCC circuit with Rs 39 crore, according to reports.

As far as worldwide box office revenue is considered, Bheeshma Parvam is on track to being Mammootty’s first film in the Rs 100 crore club. The movie has reportedly crossed the Rs 90 crore barrier in what could be its final run, especially with RRR set to release on March 25 in theatres worldwide.

Bheeshma Parvam’s run will also provide a lot of confidence to the theatre owners, who have been reeling since the pandemic. With several star-driven films including Mohanlal’s 12th Man, Mammootty’s Puzhu and Dulquer Salmaan’s Salute opting for OTT releases due to the increasing number of movies that are lined up for release, exhibitors will want the star-driven films releasing in theatres to do well. Bheeshma Parvam in its first two weeks had resulted in Rs 40 crore share for distributors and theatre exhibitors, the biggest for a Malayalam film since the pandemic.

While Mammootty’s Puzhu is set to release on Sony LIV, his next theatrical release will be CBI 5: The Brain. The makers will be hoping the film continues the momentum that Bheeshma Parvam had given. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Jana Gana Mana, Tovino Thomas’ Thallumala and Nivin Pauly’s Thuramukham are the other three big releases set for April this year.
