Mammootty and director Amal Neerad’s Bheeshma Parvam could very well be the megastar’s biggest release till date. The much-anticipated collaboration of the Big B is set to be released in record number of theatres in Kerala as well as abroad.
The film’s overseas rights were recently purchased by Doha-based company, Truth Global Films that had previously bought the distribution rights for Mammootty’s The Priest last year. The Priest marked the megastar’s first theatrical release since the pandemic and was screened in 108 theatres in GCC countries last year.
The number of theatres for Bheeshma Parvam will go up considerably with countries such as Bahrain and Kuwait opening cinema halls and other GCC countries also relaxing curbs.
As per reports, the overseas rights of Bheeshma Parvam were snapped up the company for a sum between Rs 5Cr and Rs 7Cr, making it the highest deal for a Mammootty-starrer since Madhuraraja’s foreign distribution that was bought for Rs 4.5Cr in 2019. Truth Global Films had recently bought the overseas rights for Suresh Gopi’s Kaaval and Antony Varghese’s Ajagajantharam.
Bheeshma Parvam is also expected to have a huge release in theatres, with over 400+ screens, on March 3. The makers are also hoping by then, the Kerala government will allow theatres in the State to operate at 100% occupancy.
The film, set in the 1980s, is a gangster-thriller that also has Shine Tom Chacko, Soubin Shahir, Farhaan Faasil, Sreenath Bhasi, Nadiya Moidu, Srinda, Sudev Nair, Nisthar Sait, Dileesh Pothan, Jinu Joseph and Anasuya Bharadwaj. Mammootty plays a former gangster named Michael who is forced to revisit his past after his family is threatened by old foes.
While this is Mammootty’s first theatrical release this year, the actor has already had two major releases since the pandemic – The Priest and One. He also has Ratheena’s Puzhu and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam coming up.
