For those awaiting update on Mammootty’s CBI 5: The Brain, the makers have released a new poster with his character CBI Sethurama Iyer in his signature pose along with confirming that the movie will be a theatrical release.

While the release date has not been let out yet, sources from the team say they are eyeing at an April 7 release. Mammootty’s previous film Bheeshma Parvam has already become his highest grossing movie ever, crossing Rs 75 crore in box office revenue worldwide and on track to be his first film in Rs 100 Cr club.

The makers of CBI 5: The Brain will also be expected to carry on that momentum with their movie, which has him reprising the role of the sleuth for the fifth time in the past 34 years. Scripted by SN Swamy and directed by K Madhu, Mammootty had completed shooting his portions for the film earlier this month.

CBI 5: The Brain, which has Jakes Bejoy as its music composer and giving a slight twist to the iconic theme song, also has an ensemble cast featuring Soubin Shahir, Renji Panicker, Saikumar, Dileesh Pothan, Asha Sharath and Kaniha. The film will also have Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar reprising their characters of Chacko and Vikram, respectively, from the previous films. This will mark Jagathy first outing in a big feature film and the actor, who was paralysed after a car accident a decade ago, had shot his portions in Kochi.

Meanwhile, Mammootty’s next release will be Ratheena PT’s family crime-thriller Puzhu, which is set to mark his direct-to-OTT debut. The film, which is expected to drop on Sony LIV in April, revolves around a father and son and also has Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead. Mammootty apparently plays a role with grey shades in the film. The megastar has also completed shooting for Lijo Jose Pellisery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.
