The wait for Mammootty’s Sethurama Iyer to return to the screens has lasted almost 17 years, but it will come to an end on April 28 when CBI 5: The Brain. As if the film doesn’t have enough hype, the makers have been releasing new posters and stills from the movie every week and the latest befits its title too.

The new poster from the movie has Mammootty’s iconic character seated in the middle of a busy control room, acting as its head and coordinator. The K Madhu directorial marks the fifth film in the 34-year-old franchise that also includes Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Jagratha, Sethurama Iyer CBI and Nerariyan CBI.

The upcoming film, which reportedly revolves around the investigator probing a series of murders referred to as the Basket Killings, also has Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar reprising their roles as Chacko and Vikram, respectively. The film marks the latter’s comeback after he was left paralysed following a car accident almost a decade ago.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the film’s scriptwriter Swamy had told us that Jagathy’s character has been designed keeping in mind his health condition. The film also has new additions to the cast with Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody, Malavika Menon, Dileesh Pothan, Asha Sharath, Renji Panicker, Saikumar and Kaniha playing pivotal characters.

The movie, which is mounted on a big scale, will be Mammootty’s second theatrical release this year. The makers will be expecting the film to carry on the momentum of his first, Bheeshma Parvam, which has gone on to become the megastar’s highest grossing film with a worldwide box office earning of over Rs 90 crore.

The film has Jakes Bejoy as its music director, while Akhil George has cranked its camera. Meanwhile, Mammootty is next set to join Nisam Basheer’s thriller on April 3 at Chalakkudy.
