Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s mother Fathima Ismail passed away in a private hospital in Kochi on Friday due to age-related ailments. Fathima was aged 93. The burial will be at Chembi Muslim Jamath mosque on Friday evening.
Fathima was the wife of late Ismail and was the mother of actors Mammootty and IbrahimKutty, and Shafina, Ameena, Sauda and Zakariya. She was the grandmother of actors Dulquer Salmaan, Maqbool Salmaan and Akshar Saudan. Mammootty is the eldest son in the family. Following the demise, several celebs from the industry took to their social media pages to express condolences.
Mammootty was in Dubai a week ago, for a break after the shoot of Kannur Squad. Dulquer took to his social media page a few days ago to share the importance of spending time with his family, on his sister Surumi’s birthday.
“The best things in life are the simplest. And nothing is simpler than the times we all spend together. I know with work and different cities it’s become harder. Age old story of siblings. I hope this coming year means we all get more time and travel and holidays together and there’s no greater joy than that,” he wrote.
Mammootty too had shared a photo with his mother Fathima on social media, back in 2015, on Mother’s Day. “Mother is always the best friend and the first friend in everyone's life #FirstFriend,” he had captioned the photo. Despite his undying passion for acting, the megastar is known to be a man who absolutely cherishes spending time with his family.
