The movie, which also has Ashokan, Ramya Pandian, Chethan Jayalal, Sanjana Dipu, Pramod Shetty and Bitto Davis, is scripted by S Hareesh, who had also written Lijo’s acclaimed film Jallikattu that was chosen as India’s entry to the Oscars in 2020.

As per the official synopsis of Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkum on IFFK’s official website, the movie revolves around James, who stops a bus carrying a group of Malayali travellers from Kerala in a village in Tamil Nadu. He starts behaving like a native from the village, confusing those with him as well as the villagers. James, who takes on the identity of Sundaram, walks amidst faith, delusion, dream and trance and is followed by others.
