Mandala Murders, starring Vaani Kapoor, will be available on Netflix in 2025, the streaming service revealed earlier this month. Director Gopi Puthran and his crew reportedly returned to the set to film additional scenes for the murder mystery, even though principal photography had already been completed earlier this year. It seems like they've been filming all around the city, including Madh Island, since last week, adding and redesigning scenes based on the editing crew's recommendations.
An insider informed Mid Day that crafting the action-packed scenes and multi-layered narrative for the Yash Raj series, where Vaani's character investigates a string of murders, was a challenging task. The makers of the show believed that some parts needed to be tweaked in order to make the crime drama more intense and suspenseful when they got to the editing table this year. The makers decided to add some sequences and alter some parts.
With Mandala Murders, Kapoor ventures into the realm of long-form narrative. It also features Surveen Chawla, Jameel Khan, and Vaibhav Raj Gupta.
The last round of filming on Madh Island includes pivotal scenes that unite the multi-plot, according to the insider. There is still one more week of filming before the content is considered ready.
In Mandala Murders, detectives Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh uncover a spooky plot of ritualistic murders connected to a hidden society that has existed for centuries in the charming and enigmatic hamlet of Charandaspur, where myth, murder, and destiny intertwine. Victims, survivors, and those seeking the truth are all intertwined in a chilling game of fate in a world of ominous prophecies.
Netflix and YRF have a shared goal of introducing the world to remarkable stories from India, according to Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films. Working together, they have created worldwide phenomenons that have touched people all across the globe, including in India, and they couldn't be more optimistic about the future. Mandala Murders and Akka are two of their most ambitious projects to date, following a succession of hits like The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj, and Vijay 69.
They are thrilled to share that with these two series, Netflix and YRF will continue their partnership in a new creative direction, offering viewers an unprecedented level of immersion in their programming. Mandala Murders and Akka are examples of their dedication to uncovering groundbreaking stories with strong Indian roots. Netflix, with its vast international reach, is an ideal collaborator with whom YRF can present India, its traditions, its narratives, and their exceptional artists to the globe. Working together, they know that their dream run can reach new heights this year.
