Mani Ratnam, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Jayaram to be present at Ponniyin Selvan: I single launch tomorrow

The first single from Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is all set to be launched tomorrow. The single, Ponniyin Nadhi, is composed by AR Rahman and has lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan. Interestingly, the song has been sung by AR Rahman himself. Jayam Ravi dropped a video on his social media page saying that he will be present at the launch at a mall and invited everyone to join the launch. The song will be launched at 6pm today and the film's director Mani Ratnam, actors Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Jayaram are expected to be present at the venue.

The makers made the announcement on their social media page, "Join us on this musical voyage! #PS1FirstSingle - tomorrow at 6 PM! Music & Vocal: @arrahman Lyricist: @ilangokrishnan #ManiRatnam #ARRahman #PS1 #PonniyinSelvan @LycaProductions @tipsofficial @tipsmusicsouth @primevideoin (sic)."

The makers had recently released a BTS video with Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman and Sivamani seen engaged in the re-recording work. The video ends with the announcement of the first single. 

Karthi had written on his social media page, "Let's begin our musical journey into the world of Cholas! #PS1FirstSingle coming your way on 31st July at 6pm! #PS1 #PonniyinSelvan #ManiRatnam @LycaProductions @arrahman (sic)."

Ponniyin Selvan is Mani Ratnam is an adapatation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name. The plot revolves around the early days of the Chola King Arulmozhivarman. The film has an ensemble cast that comprises Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Rahman, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala. 

The film has been bankrolled by Madras Talkies along with Lyca Productions. Ponniyin Selvan is all set to hit screens on September 30 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Mani Ratnam's last release was Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which hit screens in 2018.
