Manikandan-starrer Lover gets first set of reviews, raving actor’s performance, ahead of its February 9 release

With just less than two weeks left for the Manikandan-starrer Tamil film Lover to hit theatres, the first review of the film is out and is in all praise for the actor's performance and the story. Prabhuram Vyas, a first-time director and writer, is planning to release the movie in theaters on February 9, just in time for Valentine's Day.

Besides Manikandan, the film also stars Sri Gouri Priya, Kanna Ravi, Saravanan, Geetha Kailasam, Harish Kumar, Nikhila Shankar, Rini, Pintu Pandu, and Arunachaleshwaran, among others. It is backed by Nazerath Pasilian, Magesh Raj Pasilian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan under the banner of Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, which earlier produced the 2023 success film Good Night starring Manikandan.

First reviews rave Manikandan’s Lover:

The distribution head of Sakthi Film Factory, Harshath RVS, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that he watched Lover and said, "One of THE BEST Love Films came in recent times. Such a wonderful film with so much to relate, many clap worthy moments. Sure shot to run 50 days in Multiplexes" He also added that he became a fan of Manikandan and urged the audience not to miss the film on February 9.

Vinoth CJ of Zee Studios-South also appreciated the film and wrote, "Laughed, Cried and got emotionally moved. Manikandan's yet another career-best performance."

What we know about Lover

The makers of Lover had released the teaser of the film which begins to reveal the love brewing between the lead couple, written by Manikandan and Sri Gouri Priya. However, the tone of the film shifts as the dynamics between the couple change and troubles brew between them, further creating distance between them. Lover seems to touch upon issues like toxic masculinity, insecurity and modern-day relationships.

The music is scored by Sean Roldan, with the film’s cinematography handled by Shreyaas Krish. Barath Vikraman served as the editor. It is to be noted that Manikandan’s Lover will be hitting theatres along with Lal Salaam, starring Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth and Rajinikanth in cameo roles.
