With Manikandan-starrer Lover nearing its release date, the makers have now unveiled a new sneak-peek of the romance drama. The video features Divya, played by Sri Gouri Priya, narrating how she first met Arun (played by Manikandan).

The video starts off with a flashback from their college days, when Divya meets Arun at a college competition. Arun swoons the audience with his impression of actor Vijay Sethupathi. Later that day Arun, after winning the competition, meets Divya who congratulates him for his win. Later she explains how a friendship that started through mutual friends later blossomed to a whirlwind romance, with Arun proposing Divya with 21 gifts on her 21st birthday. Along with the basket, he also gives us a note, asking her to be his ‘pondati’ (wife).

Manikandan about Lover’s comparison with Arjun Reddy, Animal

In a recent interview, Manikandan addressed the growing comparison between Lover and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial films like Arjun Reddy and Animal. Manikandan said that relationships do not always see bright days. “Love stories are not about the initial feeling that we experience when you meet a person. Once you get committed, you should be working continuously to make that relationship work. We cannot guarantee you that every day you will feel butterflies in your stomach. There might be things that you liked in the past but no longer find them appealing. And there are also possibilities of that love turning sour,” explained the Good Night star.

Directed by Prabhuram Vyas, the upcoming romantic drama portrays a complicated relationship wherein a couple of six years drift apart due to differences. The film is set to hit the big screens on February 9.
