Director Santosh Sivan’s latest directorial Jack N’ Jill, which has Manju Warrier, Soubin Shahir, Kalidas Jayaram and Basil Joseph in pivotal roles, will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical run.

The film, which hit theatres on May 20, is a sci-fi comedy entertainer revolving around an experiment conducted on people to enhance their intelligence. The film has Kalidas playing a scientist who leads a ground-breaking project on artificial intelligence with the creation of a virtual assistant Kuttapz (Soubin Shahir). He returns to Kerala to further his research and chooses a human test subject, Parvathy, to conduct the experiment. How Parvathy responds to the various phases of the Jack N Jill project form the plot of the movie.

The movie, which is also written by Santosh, also has Shailee Kishan, Indrans, Aju Varghese and Nedumudi Venu as part of its cast. The movie had completed shooting in 2019 and was initially set to release in theatres on April 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the filmmaker told us that he could have always released the film on an OTT platform but chose not to because he believed cinema must be watched in theatres and nothing could replace the experience of cinema halls.

Prithviraj Sukumaran is also part of Jack N’ Jill, albeit in a small way as its narrator. The film will also be getting a Tamil version titled Centimeter, in which Yogi Babu plays the virtual assistant that Soubin essays in Jack N’ Jill.

“The Tamil version will make for a different experience as it has a different editor and Yogi Babu has brought in a regional flavour to it,” said Santosh, about the differences between the two versions. Jack N’ Jill is expected to hit Amazon Prime Video in a month.
