Manju Warrier’s techno horror movie Chathur Mukham, which released in theatres in April, is all set for its OTT premiere on ZEE5.
The movie, which is directed by Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V, also stars Sunny Wayne, Alencier Ley Lopez and Niranjana Anoop in pivotal roles. Talking to OTTplay, Salil says, “ZEE5 has bagged the digital rights of the movie. However, the release date is yet to be finalised.”
Chathur Mukham, which is scripted by Abhayakumar and Anil Kurian, is the first techno horror movie in Malayalam and the movie received largely positive reviews after its theatrical release. The film's digital release is expected to be next month.
Manju Warrier plays young entrepreneur Tejaswini, who is obsessed with recording every aspect of her life on a mobile phone. However, the purchase of a new phone unleashes horrors that threaten her life. While Sunny Wayne plays Tejaswini’s friend with whom she runs a CCTV business, Alencier essays the role of a physics professor.
The movie had completed its shoot last year, before the first lockdown was announced. Chathur Mukham marked Manju’s second theatrical release in 2021, after Mammootty’s The Priest, which was also a supernatural thriller.
Chathur Mukham was also Manju’s second production venture, after Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s Ahr (Kayattam), which premiered at Busan International Film Festival. She has a few more movies lined up for release, including Priyadarshan and Mohanlal’s magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Santosh Sivan’s Jack and Jill, her brother Madhu Warrier’s directorial debut Lalitham Sundaram and Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu.
The actress was shooting for her Bollywood debut with Madhavan before the second wave of COVID-19 forced another lockdown.
