Ashok Selvan, whose latest release was Manmatha Leelai and Hostel, had signed on to act in Vezham in 2019. The film, directed by newbie Sandeep Shyam, will hit the screens soon. The latest information is that SP Cinemas, which was behind films like Arulnithi's K-13, the National Award-winning film, Baaram and Harish Kalyan's Oh Manappenne, has acquired the worldwide theatrical rights, including India, of Vezham.
The film will see Ashok Selvan pairing up with his Thegidi co-star Janani and Iswarya Menon.
A press release from the makers read, "SP Cinemas is happy to be associated with K4 Creations for Vezham. We are proud to be releasing a film with good and unique content. I believe it will impress the audience. Ashok Selvan has been choosing the right scripts, and has given a wonderful performance in this one, too."
So, what's Vezham all about? According to a report published by the Times of India, Vezham, which means elephant in Tamil, is about an innocent youngster, played by Ashok Selvan, who leads a peaceful life with his circle of friends and family in one segment, but becomes a different person after the tragedy.
The first look poster of the film, featuring a bearded Ashok, balancing a foldable knife was released recently.
Vezham is expected to be a thriller and it is being produced by KESEVEN productions.
The film has cinematography by Shakthi Aravind, editing by AK Prasath and music by R Jhanu Chanthar.
Apart from this film, Ashok Selvan wrapped up shooting for Nitham Oru Vaanam and is also a part of Modern Love Tamil.
A Tamil-Telugu bilingual travelogue rom-com Nitham Oru Vaanam (Aakaasham in Telugu) is directed by debutant R Karthik. The film reunites Ashok with his Ninnila Ninnila co-star Ritu Varma. Aparna Balamurali and Shivathmika Rajashekar play the other female leads in the film.
Nitham Oru Vaanam, a travelogue film, has been shot throughout India in locations like Chennai, Pollachi, Delhi, Kolkata, Sikkim and Visakhapatnam. The film also features Virumaandi-fame Abhirami and Kaali Venkat in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Modern Love Tamil, an anthology explores six diverse yet universal stories of different facets, shades and moods of love, all set in the city’s many unique milieus.
