Mansion 24 on OTT: Director Ohmkar opens up on his digital debut with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s show

Director and show host Ohmkar is back in action after a break. His next, Mansion 24, marks his OTT debut. The web series, to stream on Disney+ Hotstar on October 17, is headlined by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The trailer of the show was launched in the presence of the cast and crew on Wednesday. Understandably, the Raju Gari Gadhi franchise director was excited about his tryst with a new medium.

“I’m thankful to Disney+ Hotstar for his opportunity, I forayed into OTT space only because of Alok sir on the team. Before starting this project, I conceived this as a movie. Many regard OTT shows a little above television and less inferior to cinema. I wanted to break that myth with a capable team. This is the right time for me to be here, the budgets for Telugu shows will gradually grow over the years,” he said.

Ohmkar stated he had great artists and technicians in the team who didn’t compromise on the quality. He recollected how art director Ashok has been there in every crucial step in his career - be it television, films or now on OTT. He praised composer Vikas, who also scored the music for his brother Ashwin’s thriller Hidimbha, recently.

The director thanked cinematographer Rajashekhar for being patient with him as a cinematographer. He mentioned there is no doubt about Varalaxmi’s potential as a performer, be it Krack or Veera Simha Reddy. “She has great screen presence and surrendered to the project with sincerity. Despite being a web series and a star, she went out of the way to do justice to the role, stretching her call sheets whenever necessary and even shot till 12 am in the night for the climax.”

He ended his speech by adding he couldn’t have done this show without his brothers - Kalyan and Ashwin.
