Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea has already become the most profitable movie from the iconic director-actor duo of Mohanlal and Priyadarshan following its global theatrical release.
The epic period war film, which won the National Award for Best Feature Film, is now set to release in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on Amazon Prime Video on December 17. The news is revealed by the streaming giants through social media posts.
Amazon Prime Video has also shared a new trailer for the movie, which also confirms the release date for the movie.
“I am more than happy about the digital premiere of Marakkar on Prime Video, which will give viewers across the country an opportunity to watch the movie from the comfort of their homes, along with their families.” said Mohanlal in a press release.
The magnum opus, which is set in 16th century Calicut and is based on the fourth Kunjali Marakkar, the admiral of the fleet of the Zamorin, has an ensemble cast that includes Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, the late Nedumudi Venu, and Pranav Mohanlal in pivotal roles.
Apart from winning the Best Feature Film award, the movie also won Best Special Effects, and Best Costume awards at the 67th National Film Awards in October 2021.
While the movie was released with much fanfare and hype, the movie received mixed reactions from fans and critics, the special effects and technical aspects of the movie was well appreciated.
