Basil Joseph, who seems to be on a roll these days with back-to-back interesting projects, is now gearing up for the release of his next film, titled Maranamass, which is co-produced by his Minnal Murali star Tovino Thomas. The film has already piqued the interest of the audience with its funky name and colourful posters. In the latest update, the makers of the Sivaprasad directorial have released a short video, giving a glimpse into the world of Maranamass.
The Maranamass team has released a short video, titled Civic Sense, that starts with a news anchor rambling about the law and order situation in the state. In the breaking news, the anchor talks about the serial killings that are happening, narrating the sorry state of affairs. The video then cuts to show ‘Nothing good ever comes of violence’, with Basil Joseph making an entry. The actor, who has impressed audiences with his movies such as Jan-e-Man, is seen giving an interview.
Basil’s character talks about how he has ‘helped’ the people of his town. Giving an example, he narrates an incident when the teachers became a problem for the students and he sought to rectify it by setting fire to the staff room. This led to school being shut down for two weeks, the character says, adding that it came as a welcome relief for the schoolkids.
Amid this, the news scroll confirms that Maranamass is set for Vishu 2025 release. The short glimpse looks to be aimed at the ongoing discussions in Kerala, with several people criticising the extent of violence portrayed in thriller movies such as Unni Mukundan's Marco and its impact on the youngsters and children.
Basil Joseph headlines this film which also has Rajesh Madhavan in a pivotal role. Siju Sunny, Puliyanam Poulose, Suresh Krishna, Babu Antony, and Anishma Anilkumar play the other key roles in the film.
The film is produced by Tovino Thomas, Rapheal Pozholiparambil, and Tingston Thomas. The film, directed by Sivaprasad, has a story penned by Siju Sunny.
