Basil Joseph's latest dark comedy, Maranamass, began streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium from May 15. The film, which debuted in theatres in April, is currently trending on social media as users express their thoughts about the story and performances.
Despite the fact that many assert that the dark comedy is undoubtedly not to everyone's taste, they continue to laud the Nunakuzhi star for his eccentric portrayal of the GenZ protagonist, P P Luke.
It has also been asserted that the remaining members of the ensemble, such as Siju Sunny, Rajesh Madhavan, Suresh Krishna, and Anishma Anilkumar, have been able to win over audiences by adding to the film's humorous elements. Others said that it was entertaining to witness the movie's references to Thalapathy Vijay.
With its flaws, some have also noted that the movie is worth seeing only once. A user commented, "Could have done it in a better way for sure," describing Maranamass as Basil's weakest film in comparison to his previous hits, Ponman and Pravinkoodu Shappu.
The film made its digital debut in multiple languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, apart from Malayalam on May 14. The screenplay for Maranamass was written by Vaazha star Siju Sunny, while the film was directed by debutante Sivaprasad. Under the auspices of Raphael Productions and Worldwide Films, Tovino Thomas, Raphael Pozholiparambil, and Thanzeer Salam bankrolled this movie. Joemon Jyothir and Pooja Mohanraj also have significant roles in the film. The Identity star has also made a cameo in the film, which was a Vishu release along with Mammootty's Bazooka and Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana.
The focus of this dark comedy is an eclectic group of people who get trapped in an untenable circumstance inside a bus with a serial killer and a corpse. How they plan to handle the body and protect themselves against the killer's threat and the mayhem that follows determines the plot.
