Basil Joseph's latest film, Maranamass, is all set to make its OTT debut soon. This dark comedy will start streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium from May 15. The movie will also be available for watching in Tamil and Hindi on the platform on the same day.
The film, which was released in theatres on April 10 along with Bazooka and Alappuzha Gymkhana, is releasing on the online platform in multiple languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, apart from Malayalam. Sivaprasad is the film's director, and Vaazha fame Siju Sunny penned the story. This film was co-produced by Tovino Thomas, Thanzeer Salam of Worldwide Films, and Raphael Pozholiparambil under the banner of Raphael Productions. Anishma Anilkumar, Rajesh Madhavan, Suresh Krishna, Pooja Mohanraj and Joemon Jyothir also play important parts in the movie. Tovino has also made a cameo in the film.
Reviews of Maranamass in theatres were divided, with many saying that the film was enjoyable to watch because of Basil's eccentricity and comedic timing. Despite being hilarious, the film only partially succeeds due to its minor flaws, according to OTTplay's review. A group of people who find themselves in a dangerous dilemma inside a bus with a corpse and a serial killer are at the centre of this dark comedy. The plot is determined by how they intend to handle the body and protect themselves from the threat posed by the killer.
Basil Joseph's another recent film, Pravinkoodu Shappu, began streaming on Sony LIV from April. Film fans are praising the thriller, which also has Soubin Shahir and Chemban Vinod in key parts. Basil, meantime, has received recognition for his recent roles in Nunakkuzhi, Ponman, and Sookshmadarshini.
Sony LIV, which has been acquiring a lot of Malayalam movies lately, started to stream Bromance from May 1. Pravinkoodu Shappu, Maranamass, and Bromance can also be watched with an OTTplay Premium subscription.
