Basil Joseph's latest film, Maranamass, makes its OTT debut a day earlier than the reported date. This dark comedy is now streaming on SonyLIV. You can also watch the movie on OTTplay Premium.
In addition to Malayalam, the movie is available for streaming on the online platform in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The screenplay for Maranamass was written by Vaazha star Siju Sunny, while the film was directed by Sivaprasad.
Under the auspices of Raphael Productions, Tovino Thomas, Raphael Pozholiparambil, and Thanzeer Salam of Worldwide Films co-produced this movie, which hit the big screen on April 10 along with other Vishu releases - Bazooka and Alappuzha Gymkhana. Joemon Jyothir, Suresh Krishna, Rajesh Madhavan, Pooja Mohanraj, Babu Antony, and Anishma Anilkumar all had significant roles in the film. In the movie, Tovino and Minnal Murali fame Guru Somasundaram also have brief appearances.
Following its theatrical release, Maranamass received mixed reviews, with many praising Basil's eccentricity and comedic timing as reasons to enjoy in the movie. The Nunakuzhi star's performance as the quirky youngster named P P Luke was lauded by his fans. According to OTTplay's review, despite its humour, the movie only partially succeeds because of its shortcomings. The plot of this dark comedy is a bunch of people who get trapped in a perilous situation inside a bus with a serial killer and a dead body. How they plan to handle the body and defend themselves against the killer's threat, as well as the cops, form the crux of Maranamass.
Basil Joseph's another recent film, Pravinkoodu Shappu, began streaming on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium from April. Film fans are praising the thriller, which also has Soubin Shahir and Chemban Vinod in key parts. Basil, meanwhile, has received recognition for his recent roles in Ponman and Sookshmadarshini. Sony LIV, which has been acquiring a lot of Malayalam movies lately, began streaming another latest Malayalam film, Bromance, from May 1.
