Unni Mukundan’s Marco had a strong run at the box office and made its much-awaited OTT premiere on Sony Liv on February 13, 2025. The Haneef Adeni directorial saw Jagadish donning the cunning and vile role of Tony Issac, who along with his son Russell, goes all out on the offensive against Marco’s family. It is a far cry from the comedy roles that Jagadish aced in movies such as Godfather and In Harihar Nagar during the 90s. Now that Marco is out on streaming, Jagadish said that most of the response to his villainous avatar has been encouraging with just 10 per cent of the feedback being negative. In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Jagadish said that let viewers hate the cold-blooded Tony Issac but why hate him?

Jagadish on response to Marco

Jagadish, who played the cold-blooded villain, Tony Issac, told OTTplay that a lot of people reached out to him after watching Marco on SonyLiv.

“Even on OTT, Marco has been garnering a lot of responses. Those who were not able to watch the film in theatres, are now calling me after watching on OTT. About 90 per cent of the feedback for Marco has been positive, while 10 per cent is not. They have been telling me that I should not be doing this role. But it is also because they like me and they cannot see me in a negative shade,” remarked Jagadish, who has been seen in grey-shaded characters recently.

“The actor in me aspires to do all kinds of roles, including grey-shaded characters. Let them hate Tony Issac, but why hate Jagadish? that’s my question,” he added.

On whether he is disappointed with some of the negative feedback, Jagadish responded, “I am not the one to question their opinion. It is all about people’s likes and dislikes. But even in that, I am relieved that only 10 per cent believe so. If it were more than 10 per cent, I would have been upset. The remaining 90 per cent has been encouraging and giving me the confidence to do more variety roles.”

Jagadish, who created quite an impression with comedy roles in the 90s, was seen in serious or grey-shaded characters in his second outing in movies such as Neru, Falimy, Purusha Pretham and Rorschach, post-2020.

Jagadish further said he is really eager to do diverse roles. “If you look at the best actors in Hollywood, they would do all kinds of roles. I have not said no to such roles - I am ready to take the risk,” Jagadish said.

Jagadish's latest release Officer on Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban, has opened to largely positive reviews.
