For the past couple of months, the headlines in the Malayalam film circle have been dominated by one movie that has sparked widespread conversation—Marco. A stylized action drama featuring a protagonist played by Unni Mukundan, the film has been a hot topic of discussion. While it raked in massive box office earnings, it also faced its share of criticism.
So far, Marco has been available for streaming on Sony LIV in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. However, there was no update on when or where the Hindi-dubbed version would be released—until now. The wait is finally over, as Marco is now streaming in Hindi.
Marco follows the story of Victor, a visually impaired man who is killed by a business tycoon’s son. This sets off a violent chain of events within a powerful gold empire, as Victor’s feared brother, Marco, vows revenge. Unbeknownst to him, his true enemies are much closer than he realizes, making his quest for retribution even more challenging—especially as his family gets caught in the crossfire.
Now, the Hindi-dubbed version of the film has officially been released. You can watch Marco, starring Unni Mukundan, in Hindi on Amazon Prime Video. Yes, you read that right—the film is available with a standard Prime subscription. Meanwhile, if you prefer to watch Marco in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, or Tamil, you can stream it on Sony LIV with your OTTplay Premium subscription. The film has a runtime of 142 minutes (2 hours and 22 minutes).
Upon its release, Marco faced major criticism for its depiction of violence. However, in a recent interview with The Times of India (TOI), Unni Mukundan defended the film, stating: “Marco doesn’t even show ten percent of the violence present in our society. We have achieved peace through wars, as survival has always been our primary instinct. I'm not justifying the portrayal of violence on screen, but the reality is that violence is an undeniable part of our society.”
In the same interview, Mukundan expressed his aspirations to make large-scale Malayalam films comparable to KGF and Baahubali. He added: “Our cinema has this reputation of being ‘good and neat.’ It is burdensome for people like me. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to achieve that ‘good cinema’ tag with every film. People shouldn’t feel pressured to make only ‘benchmark movies.’ I don’t see this burden in Telugu, Hindi, or Tamil cinema.”
