Unni Mukundan's Marco gained recognition for its power-packed performances and stylish making style. Meanwhile, the actor recently revealed that the highly anticipated action drama's sequel has been scrapped, which was an unexpected piece of news for his fans as well as action movie enthusiasts. Shareef Muhammed of Cubes Entertainments, the movie's producer, has now denied this claim.
In a conversation with the media, the producer asserted that the talks about creating a sequel to this 2024 blockbuster have not been abandoned. Additionally, he stated that the franchise's rights have not been transferred to another production company or sold. He has not, however, disclosed when the Marco sequel will start or whether Unni Mukundan will be a part of it. Fans of the movie, who were upset to learn that the sequel was no longer planned, are now excited again.
The actor revealed the news of Marco's sequel's withdrawal by replying to a fan's comment on social media, where he often shares updates on his projects. Fans of the actor and action moviegoers were left disappointed by this revelation, as the movie was praised as his most successful work and an unmatched achievement at the box office. Unni claims that because the project is getting too much negative feedback, the sequel has been shelved. He has also promised to work on a project that is bigger than Marco's.
The action film, which came out in theatres in December 2024, ends with a sneak peek of a sequel. The team planned to release two more films after Marco, which is supposed to be a trilogy, Unni revealed in a previous interview with the media. Additionally, Marco's A rating kept a lot of people from viewing it in theatres, which contributed to the film's huge success on streaming platforms like OTTplay Premium and Sony LIV in multiple languages apart from Malayalam.
