Streaming of the high-stakes criminal thriller Mardaani 3 will commence worldwide on March 27, 2026, on Netflix. Eight weeks after the film's successful theatrical release on January 30, 2026, the digital premiere takes place. One of the most anticipated films of the year, directed by Abhiraj Minawala's Yash Raj Films (YRF) franchise, Rani Mukerji's third outing in the lead role solidified her place as Indian cinema's undisputed action heroine.

How did Mardaani 3 perform at the box office against its competition?

Film Title Mardaani 3

Mardaani 3 competed against Border 2 when it hit theatres in early 2026. The film still managed to earn more than any other Hindi film of 2026, placing it in third place overall. Trade sources indicate that the film has around ₹75 crore in global gross income and around ₹60 crore in domestic net receipts.

To take advantage of a gap in the distribution schedule, the film was moved ahead from its original late February release date to January 30. Mardaani 3 marks a change in the creative leadership of the franchise, with Abhiraj Minawala taking over as director from Gopi Puthran. Aditya Chopra's strategic move paid off, as the film's ruthless narrative and Mukerji's performance generated strong word-of-mouth, resulting in consistent box office receipts throughout February. Famous for his work with YRF on past projects, Minawala chose a darker, more procedural style of narrative.

What is the central mystery Shivani Shivaji Roy must solve?

Over the course of three months, the protagonist, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shivani Shivaji Roy, searches for clues to the abduction of ninety-three girls, ranging in age from eight to ten.

Roy becomes entangled in a terrifying plot involving a "beggar mafia" and a terrifying medical experiment as a result of his investigation. The story reveals that the missing girls were undergoing illicit medication experiments using a modified HPV virus. Tensions rise as the probe expands beyond India, leading to a high-octane chase in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Who are the new and returning faces in the Mardaani 3 cast?

In this installment, a female main antagonist makes her series debut. "Amma" (Mallika Prasad), an evil trafficker and medical ringleader, is the mastermind behind the operation. As the icy, calculated counterpoint to Shivani Roy, played by the fiery Mukerji, Prasad has received rave reviews from critics. Constable Fatima Anwar, played by Janki Bodiwala, is an integral part of the covert operation and features prominently in the film. Indraneel Bhattacharya and Mikhail Yawalkar round out the supporting cast, while Jisshu Sengupta returns as Shivani's spouse, Dr Bikram Roy.

Netflix will release the film on March 27, following the typical eight-week transition from theatre to OTT. Many people will likely watch the digital release, especially those who were unable to attend the theatrical run or who simply want to watch the gripping procedural drama again. To meet the needs of Netflix's international audience, the film will be offered in both its original Hindi version and various dubbed and subtitled versions.

What does the future hold for the Mardaani franchise?

There have been whispers in the business about a possible fourth installment, even as the film switches to digital. The "darkest chapter" of Shivani Shivaji Roy's adventure will be available to stream on Friday, so fans may be ready for that.
