It looks like the much-awaited release date of Vishal and SJ Suryah's flick Mark Antony is finally here. The film, which revolves around time travel, is all set to drop on July 28, which incidentally happens to be actor Dhanush's birthday. Mark Antony is helmed by Adhik Ravichandran and has Ritu Varma playing the leading lady.
The team had recently dropped the teaser and going by the short video, it looks like the actor's characters will travel through time to take revenge on each other. And interestingly, the journey across time happens through a landline. The retro look of the actors is already a hit among the audience.
Vishal had recently dropped a video of him dubbing for the film, that too in three languages. In the video, he is seen delivering the dialogue, "Am I Mark to forgive you? I am Antony." The title Mark Antony is inspired by the popular character of Raghuvaran in the Suress Krishna film, Baashha.
The star cast includes Selvaraghavan, Abhinaya Sunil, and Y Gee Mahendra to name a few. While GV Prakash has composed music for the film, Abinandhan Ramanujam has cranked the camera and Vijay Velukutty has handled the editing. Kanal Kannan, Peter Hein, and Ravi Varma have choreographed the stunt sequences. Mark Antony will be Vishal's first release in 2023.
Vishal is likely to begin work on the sequel to Mysskin's Thupparivalan. While Mysskin was supposed to helm the sequel, he walked out of the film after creative differences cropped up between him and Vishal. Thupparivalan 2 will mark the debut of Vishal as a director.
Thupparivalan, the film and its titular character Kaniyan Poongundran, played by Vishal, are loosely inspired by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle's detective character, Sherlock Holmes. The original detective film (2017) featured Vishal, Prasanna, Vinay Rai, Anu Emmanuel, Andrea Jeremiah, Simran and K Bhagyaraj.
