It looks like Vishal and Raghava Lawrence are all set to clash on the occasion of Vinayagar Chaturthi next month. Both films are slated to hit screens in mid-September. While the team of Mark Antony has announced the release date as September 15, the team of Chandramukhi 2 has declared the film as a Chaturthi release, with the exact date yet to be announced.
The film is helmed by Adhik Ravichandran and marks the maiden collaboration of SJ Suryah with Vishal. Mark Antony is touted to be a gangster action film that revolves around time travel. The star cast includes Ritu Varma, Sunil, Selvaraghavan, Abhinaya, Redin Kingsley and YG Mahendran.
While GV Prakash Kumar has scored the music, Abhinandan Ramanujam has handled the cinematography and Vijay Velukutty is in charge of editing. Peter Hein has choreographed the action sequences, along with stunt masters Dhilip Subbarayan, Kanal Kannan, and Dinesh Subbarayan. Mark Antony is bankrolled by S Vinod Kumar and expectations are riding high on the film, due to the combination of SJ Suryah and Vishal and the concept of time travel. The duo's retro looks have already become a sensation on the internet.
Chandramukhi 2, on the other hand, is directed by P Vasu and has Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut in the lead. The film will mark Lawrence's first pan-India release as it will be released in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Due to Kangana's presence, the psychological thriller is likely to do well in the Hindi belt. Chandramukhi 2 marks Kangana's third project in Tamil after Dhaam Dhoom and Thalaivi.
While Lawrence will essay the role of Vettaiyan played by Superstar Rajinikanth in Chandramukhi (2005), Kangana will play Jyotika's popular character Chandramukhi. The rest of the supporting cast includes Radikaa Sarathkumar, Lakshmi Menon and Mahima Nambiar to name a few. Chandramukhi 2 is helmed by Lyca Productions.
