Was Kiccha Sudeep wrong in choosing to collaborate with Max maker Vijay Kartikeyaa so soon and that too with a film, Mark , that was in the exact same template as the former? Well, it was heard during Mark’s theatrical run and now that it is on OTT, netizens have reiterated that he was. Max, they say, was far superior and more engaging than Mark, which, according to trade trackers, did not break even theatrically.
Mark dropped on JioHotstar on January 23, 2026 (via OTTplay Premium also), with audio options in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Hindi audio is expected to be available within a week. Comments have begun trickling in on social media about the film from audiences across languages and the impression one gets is that Mark has failed to excite them. “A very forgettable one-time watch”, is how a viewer from Kerala described the film.
Comments also ranged from, “Mark feels flat and below average. Sudeep’s swag and action sequence are the only positives”, “Mark by Vijay Karthikeyaa starring Kichaa Sudeep feels like another version of their previous film MAX”, “Mark problem is all Tamil and Telugu side actors who have zero command on dialogues”, “Why did Sudeep accept such a lame script?” to “Max is better than Mark”, among others.
Mark featured Kiccha Sudeep as SP Ajay Markandaya, a ruthless one-man army supercop, who has to find a bunch of missing kids for two main reasons – one of them is the daughter of the house help at his place and another holds a key piece of evidence that will have a major impact on the political atmosphere in the state, as well as on Markandaya’s suspension.
The film featured a massive ensemble cast, including Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, Naveen Chandra, Vikranth, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Dragon Manju, Mahantesh Hiremath, Roshni Prakash, Deepshikha, Pratap Narayan, Archana Kottige, among others.
Q. Is Mark the Max sequel?
A. There were rumours that director Vijay Kartikeyaa rebranded the script for Max 2 as Mark, but the filmmaker has negated this, stating that the nuances of the character in Mark are very different from Max's Arjun Mahakshay. Audiences, however, felt that the two films were quite alike.
Q. Who all are on the vast cast of Mark?
A. Mark stars Kiccha Sudeep, Guru Somasundaram, Naveen Chandra, Vikranth, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Mahantesh Hiremath, Dragon Manju, Roshni Prakash, Archana Kottige, Deepshika, among others.
Q. Where can one watch Mark?
