Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep’s Mark has been in theatres for two weeks, and has, according to trade trackers, grossed only Rs 32 cr so far, most of it coming from the Kannada original version and negligible contributions from Tamil and Telugu. In comparison, the actor’s 2024 Christmas release Max had done phenomenally better, grossing Rs 45 cr in its first week itself. Since day 8, Mark has been making sub Rs 1 cr additions to its gross tally and the figures have been on a steady decline. As such, it is expected to make the transition to OTT shortly.

Mark’s post-theatrical streaming rights had been picked up by JioHotstar and the buzz is that the film will be on the platform by January 23, 2026, with an official confirmation to come shortly. It will also be available via OTTplay Premium. The film team has begun dropping full videos of the songs, which is generally a precursor to an impending OTT release and a last-ditch effort to drum up interest for a theatrical viewing.
Despite a commendable effort of putting a film together in a little over 4 months, Sudeep and co failed to excite audiences with their latest offering. What went wrong for Mark? The film’s biggest failing was that it was in the exact same template as Max, a suspended super cop, who has a mission at hand, which he single-handedly handles to save the day.

This time around, the film was stuffed to the brim with characters, but none had any meat to chew on. In fact, the inclusion of actors like Shine Tom Chacko, Naveen Chandra, Yogi Babu, Guru Somasundaram, etc., was more likely a pan-India release requirement, but then, all of them were wasted in roles of no consequence.
Up next, Sudeep is expected to resume the shoot of Billa Ranga Baashaa, his most ambitious project to date – a fantasy film set 200 years in the future – directed by Vikrant Rona maker Anup Bhandari. Considering the film’s scale and that it has to be shot on specially erected sets, the actor is looking at accommodating another project during the schedule breaks. He has okayed a rom-com, which he said has been written by someone from director Sukumar’s team.
Q. Is Mark the Max sequel?
A. There have been rumours that director Vijay Kartikeyaa rebranded the script for Max 2 as Mark, but the filmmaker has negated this, stating that the nuances of the character in Mark are very different from Max's Arjun Mahakshay.
Q. Who all are on the vast cast of Mark?
A. Mark stars Kiccha Sudeep, Guru Somasundaram, Naveen Chandra, Vikranth, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Mahantesh Hiremath, Dragon Manju, Roshni Prakash, Archana Kottige, Deepshika, among others.
Q. Where can one watch Mark?
A. Mark is currently in theatres, having released on December 25, 2025. The film's post-theatrical streaming rights are with JioHotstar (also available via OTTPlay Premium), and a January 23 premiere is speculated.
