Mark, the sophomore directorial of Max director Vijay Kartikeyaa, starring Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep is in theatres as of December 25. The film is a cop thriller that has Sudeep yet again playing a fearless and fierce cop, who, like Max, is on suspension. Mark is also on a mission that is a race against time, figuring out how to put the politician who got him suspended in his place, while also rescuing a bunch of kidnapped kids who are in grave danger. Both Vijay and Sudeep were vehement that Max and Mark are two vastly different characters, but are they really?

Mark X reviews: Fans not too pleased with Sudeep's latest

Based on the buzz on social media, the best bet is that Vijay redid the script that was meant to be Max 2 and renamed it, with a little help from filmmaker Anup Bhandari, who apparently came up with the title. A section of fans has voiced their disappointment in Vijay’s script, which literally offered them nothing new. Mark is in the exact same template as Max, with the character in a race against time to finish the mission at hand.

Sudeep’s introduction with the Psycho Saithaan song appears to be the only saving grace of the film. “As a Sudeep fans I didn't like this movie To be Frank movie is not upto the mark it didn't meet our expectations,” wrote a netizen, adding, “ Boss Intro Amazing 🤩BGM Also Good😊But Story And Screen Play Disappointed.” He also urged the actor to focus on selecting good scripts. Another netizen echoed this, writing, “Mark didn’t meet my expectations. Same storyline like Max, only entry scene was amazing, rest all same like Kaithi and Vikram.”

Mark features a vast ensemble cast, including the likes of Naveen Chandra, Yogi Babu, Guru Somasundaram, Vikranth, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Mahantesh Hiremath, Dragon Manju, Roshni Prakash, Archana Kottige and many more. Yet, barring Sudeep, no one gets anything to sink their teeth into. The film’s satellite and digital rights have been sold and will head to JioHotstar after its theatrical run.
