In Moon Knight, the next superhero series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Oscar Isaac plays multiple roles and dons a cape and an English accent. Isaac plays "at least four" characters in the upcoming Disney+ show, which is based on a lesser-known Marvel hero.

At the British Museum on Thursday, Isaac told Reuters that was part of the difficulty and excitement of taking this on. The actor also said that the opportunity to present so many parts of one character and really explore, in a physical and symbolic sense, the different identities that he has was priceless.

In a departure from the comic books, in which Moon Knight's alter ego is Jewish-American mercenary, Marc Spector. The sleep-deprived Londoner is plagued by memories of Spector and suffers from a dissociative identity disorder.

Isaac went on to say that the emotional reality of dealing with this condition, as well as the road of healing from abuse and trauma, became the major guiding theme of the entire affair. Everything one sees is an indication of that internal conflict, including the wacky symbolic images.

Ethan Hawke plays Arthur Harrow, the villain who faces Isaac. The actor remarked that the hero in the novel is dealing with mental illness, which presented a big challenge for him because the opponent had to be something else. To compete with the crazed hero, Harrow had to build a pretty normal maniac.

During an accidental encounter, Isaac persuaded Hawke, a fellow New Yorker, to take on the part. Hawke asked, "Isn't it true that sometimes things just fall into place?" The Dune actor met Hawke at a New York coffee shop, and he informed him that he was doing this and that he wanted someone to join him. To which Hawke asked Isaac to make an offer.

The series, created by Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab, also stars French actor Gaspard Ulliel, who died on January 19 in a skiing accident in the French Alps. On March 30, Disney+ will premiere Moon Knight.
