A new teaser trailer for the upcoming Marvel animated series What if…? has been released by the studio. The anthology series will be made available to stream on Disney+ next month in the US and Disney+ Hotstar here.

Based on the Marvel comics of the same name, What if…? will take a deep dive to explore what might happen if certain crucial events that happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe played out in different ways. One of the most pronounced of them is the storyline of Captain America. In the upcoming series, the question is asked what if instead of Steve Rogers, agent Peggy Carter was given the super serum and were to take the role of the star-spangled superhero. It also follows the story of T'Challa reimagined as Star-Lord.

In the new teaser several popular MCU characters such as T'Challa, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange, Killmonger, Bucky Barnes, Gamora, Spider-Man and of course, Peggy Carter make their appearances. We see Agent Carter donned in the signature red, white and blue Captain America suit, armed with the vibranium shield and in one scene, a sword as well. The teaser also catches her lunging towards an enormous tentacled monster.

What if…? will be narrated by the character of Uatu or the Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright. The omnipresent character will preside over all the events in the alternate reality multiverse, only intervening when he feels the need to.

The actors who played the characters in the Marvel films will return to voice their animated counterparts as well. What if..? was Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman’s final role before he passed away last year.

AC Bradley, the creator of the series will also serve as head writer. Bryan Andrews will reportedly be the director of the show.
