As Masaba Masaba gears up for the release of its second season, celebrity fashion designer and the show’s central character Masaba Gupta shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the late singer-composer Bappi Lahiri on the sets of the webseries along with her mother Neena Gupta.

While speaking about the shoot, Neena in an interview with News18 had said that Bappi was not in the best of health but could see a child-like enthusiasm in him. The actress also added that he has one scene in the series for which he was very excited and even improvised his lines.

The late singer passed away on February 16 earlier this year. Neena said, “I was taken aback by the news of his demise as it happened a couple of months after we shot for the show. I’ve been a fan of his work. He gave numerous chartbusters which are going to remain evergreen.”

Best known for his iconic compositions in Wardat, Disco Dancer, Namak Halaal, Dance Dance, Commando, Saheb, Gang Leader, Sailaab and Sharaabi, Bappi had popularised disco music in the country during the 80s and 90s.

Meanwhile, Masaba Masaba is directed by Sonam Nair and Season 2 will also feature Neil Bhoopalam, Rytasha Rathore, Kareema Barry, Barkha Singh and Armaan Khera. The second season also marks the second acting venture of Kucha Kapila, a well-known influencer who made her acting debut with Karan Johar’s Ghost Stories.

The Netflix series follows the life of Masaba Gupta, an ace fashion designer and the challenges she faces in life. The first season was massively popular and fans of the show have been waiting eagerly to watch the mother-daughter duo on screen again.

Apart from Bappi, the second season is set to have several other cameos as well including one by actor Ram Kapoor. This is the first appearance of the duo together on-screen. While talking about Kapoor, Neena said, “It's great to work with a good actor, they challenge you to be better. I have never worked with him, but it felt like we have known each other for a long time. So it was great fun doing my scenes with him."
