Master actor Sai Dheena embraces Buddhism with family, picture goes viral

Popular Tamil actor Sai Dheena, who has acted in a number of films in Tamil as antagonist, has converted to Buddhism. A picture of Dheena along with his family has gone viral on social media. The actor is seen with his family including his wife and three children along with a Buddhist monk. Dheena is said to have taken the 22 vows in the presence of the monk.

Dheena was recently seen on screen in Santhanam's Gulu Gulu, in which he essayed the role of a policeman. Dheena made his acting debut with Kamal Haasan's Virumandi as a jail warden and was noted for his performance. He later went on to play roles with shades of grey and his repertoire includes a slew of films including Thalainagaram, Aaranya Kaandam, Raja Rani, Vada Chennai, Pudhupettai, Enthiran, Komban, Vaalu, Indru Netru Naalai, Jil Jung Juk, Theri, Mersal, Bigil, Maanagaram, Master to name a few. He had also played the prime antagonist in Attu, Thimiru Pudichavan and Vaandu.The actor hails from a humble background and was a billboard artist before he took the plunge into films. 

And that's not all. Dheena, who has always played the baddie on screen, has a heart of gold in real life. During the recent coronavirus outbreak, Dheena helped a number of families by providing them food. He had also financially assisted character actor Viruchigakanth also known as Pallu Babu who appeared in Balaji Sakthivel's Kadhal.

Soon after the news of him converting to Buddhism spread, many have extended their support to him on social media. Anti-case activist Suraj Kumar Bauddh welcomed him to the religion and said, "Noted film actor Sai Deena and his family converted to Buddhism. He also recited the 22 vows of Dr. Babasaheb. Welcome to Buddhism dear.Om Mani Padme Hum (sic),"

Twitter forum Mission Ambedkar, too, congratulated the actor. They admins shared a picture of Dheena and captioned it, "Wow... the Revolution is On-Line.Tamil cinema actor Sai Deena took refuge in Lord Buddha and renounced Hinduism. His family also embraced Buddhism. Congratulations to all (sic)." Dheena is also known as Boxer Dheena and Stunt Dheena in the film circuit.
