Disney+ Hotstar’s second Malayalam web series is a far cry from Kerala Crime Files . Masterpeace, which is directed by Sreejith N and has Nithya Menen and Sharafudheen as its protagonists, is a family satire that is sure to leave the audience in splits, if its latest trailer is anything to go by.
The trailer, which was released through the social media accounts of its lead actors and Disney+ Hotstar, started off by introducing the couple in a cute romantic set-up before all hell breaks loose – hinting at a crack in their marriage. It also seems to stem from their conservative parents, who seem to have intruded into their lives, setting off a series of arguments and miscommunications.

Through the trailer, the makers also announced that the web series will begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from October 25 and will also be available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Bangla. Hotstar will be hoping that the Sreejith directorial will bring in more eyeballs for the web series format in Malayalam.
In a recent chat with OTTplay, Sreejith, who had previously helmed Oru Thekkan Thallu Case and also co-wrote the script for Empuraan duo Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Disney+ Hotstar release Bro Daddy , said that Masterpeace is a family satire that revolves around a couple and their parents, and is set in a single day.
The series will have five episodes, spanning between 30 to 35 minutes each, promising another breezy watch for the Malayalam audience, who are yet to get used to the format. The presence of mainstream actors such as Nithya, Sharafudheen, Shanthi Krishna, Divya Pillai, Ashokan, Renji Panciker and Maala Parvathi along with vibrant visuals that would remind the audience of Wes Anderson films, could ensure that the viewers are in for a treat.
