Masthishka Maranam release date: Krishand-Rajisha Vijayan film to hit the big screen with Bhavana's Anomie

Thanks to his critically acclaimed films, Krishand is a sought after Malayalam director among moviegoers. He is now getting ready for the theatrical premiere of his upcoming film, Masthishka Maranam. In the meantime, rumours are circulating that this movie will shortly be released in theatres.

When is Masthishka Maranam theatrical release?

Along with Jayaram's Ashakal Aayiram and Sharaf U Dheen's Madhuvidhu, the makers of Masthishka Maranam are reportedly aiming for a February 6 release. There are more Malayalam films that will be released on the same day, though. On February 6, Rajesh Madhavan's Pennum Porattum and Bhavana and Rahman's Anomie will also be released.

What was shown in Masthishka Maranam teaser?

The protagonist, played by Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju, plays a virtual reality memory game in the one-minute film, which shows a futuristic world that descends into chaos. There is no explanation for how he got into trouble or the real identity of Rajisha Vijayan's character, who pleads him to assist her. She comes out as quirky and typically dons bridal attire. Overall, the director offers an interesting story while the characters are costumed strangely against a backdrop of virtual sci-fi visuals. 

Who are among the cast & crew of Masthishka Maranam?

Krishand has also written the screenplay and helmed the edit works of Masthishka Maranam. The movie's makers unveiled the posters in April of 2025. In addition to Rajisha and Niranj in the lead roles, the other posters feature characters portrayed by actors including Vishnu Agasthya, Divya Prabha, Jagadish, Suresh Krishna, Ann Saleem, and Rahul Rajagopal. Supporting roles are also played by Manoj Kana, Santhy Balachandran, Zhins Shan, Sreenath Babu, Anoop Mohandas, Nandu, and Jain Andrews.

Krishand and Alvin Joseph handled the film's art direction in addition to Prayag Mukundan's cinematography. The movie's soundtrack was written by Varkey. His latest works, Sangarsha Ghadana and the gangster-focused Malayalam web series Sambhavavivaranam Nalara Sangham, are also available for streaming on OTTplay Premium.
