Materialists out on OTT: Here's how to watch Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal and Dakota Johnson's romcom in India

Materialists, starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal in the lead, and directed by Past Lives fame Celine Song, is now on OTT. The film, which released in theatres in June this year and received fairly positive reviews, has dropped on Amazon Prime Video, albeit on its store and can be streamed for Rs 119. There is no confirmation yet if the film will move to the platform’s primary library and become free to subscribers.

Materialists: A matchmaker and two suitors

Written by Song, Materialists is set against the backdrop of New York City's luxury-driven dating culture, and follows a love triangle between a matchmaker, her aspiring actor ex-boyfriend, and a charming millionaire, according to an official synopsis. Johnson is Lucy Mason, who turns matchmaker after her acting dreams fail to take off, and believes that it is better to die alone if not married to someone wealthy.

The men in her life are Chris Evans as John and Pedro Pascal as Harry, one an ex and another a possible future suitor. While Lucy had ended things with John because of financial instability, a life with Harry, a client’s brother and millionaire, would throw up no such issues. But is he the right match for her, or is John the man she’s meant to be with?

While Materialists focuses primarily on the lead cast, there are also sub-tracks about Lucy’s clients and the matches she finds for them. Also on the cast of the film are Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, Eddie Cahill, Sawyer Spielberg and Joseph Lee, among others.

Featuring cinematography by Shabier Kirchner and music by Daniel Pemberton, Materialists was reportedly made at a budget of USD 20 million and made USD 63 million at the box office.
