Maya Bazaar for Sale on OTT: ZEE5’s Telugu sitcom explores the oddities of life in gated communities

ZEE5, which has consistently backed original shows in multiple regional languages over the years, is coming up with a sitcom in Telugu titled Maya Bazaar for Sale. The show has an ensemble cast comprising Naresh, Hari Teja, Eesha Rebba, Meiyang Chang, Aditi Myakal, Jhansi, Ravi Varma, Navdeep, Sivannarayana, Raja Chembolu, Sunaina and others in lead roles.

Created by Gautami Challagulla, the tale offers a peek into the oddities of life in luxurious gated communities and how they’re (no) different from people belonging to other socio-economic backgrounds. The drama takes a turn for the worse when a government officer claims the community was built on an illegally acquired land. To what extent will the residents go to salvage their property?

From unique interpersonal relationships between neighbours to the drama within their families, their eccentricities, touching upon social issues with a stroke of humour, Maya Bazaar for Sale promises to be out-and-out hilarious ride. Jerry Silvester Vincent, a protege of AR Rahman, has scored the music for the show that stars Kota Srinivas Rao, Gautam Raju, Ravi Raj.

Gautami Challagulla, Swetha Manchiraju, Haribabu Dasari have written the show. Rana Daggubati is presenting the series on behalf of Spirit Media while Rajeev Ranjan is the producer. Naveen Yadav, who worked on ZEE5’s pathbreaking web series Gods of Dharmapuri, is the cinematographer. Raviteja Girijala is the editor while Poojita Tadikonda is the costume designer.

With its intriguing backdrop, a wide bunch of familiar faces and relatable treatment, Mayabazaar for Sale promises to be a good watch for OTT viewers this weekend. If all goes well, the show may have multiple seasons too. The streamer’s other major Telugu web shows this year were Vyavastha, ATM, Puli Meka.
