Mayasabha Trailer: Deva Katta explores the untold side of Telugu politics from the 90s

Mayasabha is Sony Liv's new Telugu series, set to premiere on August 7, 2025. The makers revealed the trailer recently, and it showcases intense drama and the rise of two political titans in united Andhra Pradesh during the early 1990s. Directed by the popular duo Deva Katta and Kiran Jaya Kumar, the trailer opens with a road accident that sparks a special friendship between two young men, who later become political rivals.

Aadhi Pinisetty plays Krishnama Naidu, a character based on Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu. On the other hand, young actor Chaitanya Rao portrays M. S. Rami Reddy, inspired by the late Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy. 

Although the makers have renamed the key characters, the series explores how these political heavyweights were once friends and what led them to join different parties and chart separate paths to political stardom.

Instead of focusing solely on controversial events in Telugu political history, the series emphasizes the friendship between the two and the reasons behind their fallout. In many ways, Mayasabha feels more like a biopic than a typical political drama.

One of the highlights of the trailer is the presence of Sai Kumar, who portrays the legendary N. T. Rama Rao. His appearance, voice, and screen presence are striking and have impressed viewers. The series also features veteran actor Nassar in a pivotal role as a media baron.

Interestingly, some social media users felt that the teaser carried more dramatic impact than the trailer. Known for films like Prasthanam and Republic, Deva Katta is making a comeback after a long gap, and the subject he has chosen has generated considerable buzz.

The trailer was launched by Sai Dharam Tej, who expressed excitement about the series and said he couldn’t wait to see how Deva Katta has dramatized real-life incidents. Meanwhile, Deva Katta emphasized that Mayasabha doesn’t take sides and will showcase lesser-known incidents involving the two legends of Telugu politics.

The music is composed by Shaktikanth Karthik, and visuals are handled by Suresh Raguru. The show consists of nine episodes and will also be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium.
