Mechanic Rocky OTT release date: When and where to watch Vishwak Sen’s action comedy

Vishwak Sen’s Mechanic Rocky opened in theatres with very positive reviews on November 22, but unfortunately for the team, the word-of-mouth publicity did not translate into footfalls and it faltered at the box office. Directed by Ravi Teja Mullapudi and produced by Ram Talluri, Mechanic Rocky was said to have struck a fine balance between mass commercial elements and thought-provoking storytelling.

The film, which explores cybercrimes, was salvaged by its second half, felt audiences, but that was not enough to bring more to theatres. In fact, prior to the release, the actor had said that the second half and the film’s overall gripping narration would be the clincher for audiences.

The bright spot for the team was that the digital streaming rights had been secured by Amazon Prime Video prior to the theatrical release. Reports suggest that the pre-release business ensured the makers recovered their investment, so the box office business did not affect them adversely. The film is now headed for its OTT outing with Prime Video slotting it for a December 20 release.

Also starring Shraddha Srinath, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sunil, Naresh, Hyper Aadi, Harsha Vardhan, and Raghu Ram, among others, Mechanic Rocky has Vishwak in the title role. He runs a driving school in Hyderabad, but faces eviction threats from local goon, who claims ownership of the property. Desperate to save his livelihood, Rocky tries to figure out ways to put together the amount owed to the goon, when he hears of a life insurance policy left behind by his late father.

While the payout is a hefty amount, enough to solve all of Rocky’s problems, strangely enough, he was not named nominee in the policy, in what appears to be a scam. How Rocky solves this mess and saves his school from land-grabbers forms the crux of the tale.
