Two weeks after the makers of Maarnami introduced audiences to Chaithra Achar’s character Deeksha, it’s time to meet the leading man. The title teaser of the film had offered a glimpse, albeit of him as a child, fierce and fearless, while the latest takes us to present day, were Chethu (Ritvvikk) is ready to unleash a blood fest.

Maarnami: A love story with some violence thrown in

In the teaser, a dog turns up at a baby shower, which, Chethu says, will leave only after eating from a ritualistic offering after death. When the dog refuses to eat food offered to it, Chethu then vows to make good and pulls out a knife. And then, as one hears the swooshing of the blade, the dog eats.

Maarnami is debutant director Rishith Shetty’s presentation and is expected to be in theatres in the second half of 2025. Although the film has a gangster tale vibe to it, with Mangaluru’s faction rivalries part of the narrative, the main thread of the story, beside all the action and violence, is said to be the “beautiful love story” between Chethu and Deeksha.

“The main plot of Maarnami is the evolution of Chethu and Deeksha’s relationship over the years, which has been told in a very dramatic fashion,” Chaithra had said during the title launch. The film’s cast also includes Prakash Tuminadu, Yash Shetty, Sonu Gowda, Jyotish Shetty, among others.
