For Chiranjeevi fans, his birthday calls for a huge celebration but the actor often treats them in return with a flurry of exciting movie announcements. Chiranjeevi turns 68 today, August 22, and on this occasion, his daughter, and stylist, Sushmita Konidela has announced a rather exciting venture that has the Megastar headlining it.

The project, which is tentatively titled Mega 156 (his 156th outing as an actor), will be produced under Sushmita's home banner of Gold Box Entertainments and the makers, through a special poster, have promised to deliver a 'MegaRocking' Entertainer.

"A legacy of ruling the silver screen for 4 decades! A personality which evokes a plethora of emotions! A man who is celebrated on and off the screen. After 155 films, now #MEGA156 will be a MegaRocking entertainer. Happy Birthday to @KChiruTweets Garu🤗" wrote the official social media handle of Gold Box Entertainments.

Sushmita Konidela makes big strides with Mega 156

Sushmita Konidela, of course, has served as her dad's chief stylist since his return to cinema with Khaidi No. 150. She has since then been responsible for all the varied looks that Chiranjeevi has donned - from period mythologies like Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy to family actioners such as Waltair Veerayya and the very recent Bholaa Shankar. Sushmita debuted as a producer in 2020 with the web show Shootout at Alair and made her first feature, Senapathi, the following year.

Mega 156 would be Gold Box Entertainments' fourth venture after the 2023 film Sridevi Shoban Babu, starring Santosh Sobhan, Gouri Kishan, Rohini, Moin, Naga Babu and others. The former, untitled project will have Chiranjeevi playing the lead but the team is yet to disclose details concerning the rest of the cast, the director and the core crew.

Will Megastar Chiranjeevi get it right this time?

As much as the fans ardently look forward to a Chiranjeevi film, one also hears them complaining that his selection of scripts/stories has been a tad underwhelming since the comeback a few years ago. Having taken a sabbatical to focus on his political career, Chiru returned to the fore with V.V. Vinayak's Khaidi No. 150, a remake of the Vijay - Samantha starrer Kaththi

Since then, Chiranjeevi has headlined five different films but two of them (three, in total, if you count Khaidi No. 150 as well) have been remakes. Although one of them, Waltair Veerayya, did manage to yield good results at the box office, it is perhaps true that the Megastar is yet to find his old mojo back. Could his upcoming venture with his daughter turn things around?
