Filmmaker-actor MG Srinivas got Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep to do the honours and launch the video of the song Giccha Gili Gili from his next, Old Monk. Srini, as he is popularly known, had earlier taken to social media to express his gratitude at Sudeep agreeing to launch it, writing, “Sudeep sir was the one who recognised the actor in me and gave me a chance to act in his film. He is now launching the first video song of my upcoming film Old Monk. I am really excited about this launch. Thank you sir for obliging.”

MG Srini made his acting debut in Just Maath Maathalli, which was written and directed by Sudeep. Three years later, he made his directorial debut with the Upendra-starrer Topiwala. All three of his follow-up directorials, Srinivasa Kalyana, Birbal Trilogy: Finding Vajramuni and now Old Monk, have had Srini as the protagonist as well. Giccha Gili Gili is composed by musician duo Saurabh-Vaibhav and has been written by Mudakanna Moraba, who has also sung it.

The peppy dance number has been choreographed by A Harsha and features Srini along with leading lady Aditi Prabhudeva. According to the filmmaker, Old Monk takes inspiration from the tale of the mythological character Narada in an imaginary situation of having him in modern-day and falling in love. Srini plays the role of the modern version of Narada, who comes to earth after being cursed by Krishna, following a small misunderstanding he had with Radha, thanks to Narada.
