Although MG Srinivas is today known in Kannada movie circles as a director-actor, by his own admission, acting is what he wants to do. And yet, after a couple of supporting roles, Srini, as he’s popularly known, got his first big break directing Real Star Upendra in Topiwala. Subsequently, he’s directed and acted in Birbal: Finding Vajramuni, Srinivasa Kalyana and Old Monk.
Srini, who recently played an RJ in the Kannada version of an upcoming bilingual thriller, and is committed to another action thriller, Andallamma, as actor, today announced his next directorial. While it was widely believed that the director-actor would make the second film in the Birbal Trilogy, turns out, he’s making a film with Century Star Shivarajkumar. Srini had let rumour mills go into overdrive two days ago, when he posted a picture with Shivanna. While he let nothing spill then, the cat's out of the bag now. Titled Ghost, the film is being produced by Sandesh Productions and will have Arjun Janya on board as composer.
Written by Srini, the film, casting for which is still in process, is likely to go on floors shortly. Shivarajkumar, who was last seen onscreen in Bhajarangi 2, is gearing up for the release of Bairagee, which reunites him with Tagaru co-star Daali Dhananjaya. The Century Star has also been working on his fourth film with A Harsha, called Vedha. He’s also got Nee Sigoovaregu, a romantic entertainer movie directed by Raam Dhulipudi, in which he will be paired with Mehreen Pirzada.
Srini’s last film, Old Monk, had released in theatres to favourable reviews. The film, in which he was paired with Aditi Prabhudeva, was a romantic comedy with a mythological twist. After a fairly decent run at the box office, the film made its way to Amazon Prime this week.
