Mike Flanagan, who is the creator and director of the recently released Netflix miniseries Midnight Mass, has said that he is open to the idea of helming a Star Wars horror film.
In a tweet, the filmmaker wrote that he woke up to the idea of adding a horror feature to the sci-fi franchise.

Collider writes that Mike Dyer, a writer on Star Wars: Battlefront replied to Flanagan's tweet and said that he has wanted a horror feature in the franchise for decades.
British actor Rahul Kohli who starred in The Haunting of Bly Manor, voice actor Laura Bailey, Swedish-American actor and director Stephen Ford also echoed this sentiment. Fans also tagged Disney in the tweet thread in hopes of the studio noticing the idea proposed by Flanagan.

Besides Midnight Mass, Flanagan is known for other horror features like Gerald's Game and Doctor Sleep, both of which are screen adaptations of Stephen King's books. He has also backed The Haunting anthology on mansion.
Flanagan is currently working on the post-production of the Midnight Club series for Netflix, which is based on Christopher Pike's novel of the same name, according to Variety.
