Mili is a remake of the Malayalam thriller Helen, which starred Anna Ben in the titular character with actor Lal playing her father. The original, too, was helmed by Mathukutty Xavier and had music by Shaan Rahman. The film bagged a number of awards and was critically acclaimed by critics and audience alike. It was later remade in Tamil as Abirkiniyal (2021) and starred real-life father-daughter combo, Arun Pandian and Keerthi Pandian. The film was directed by Gokul.
